Snow Day!

Boston got walloped by snowstorm Juno.  Typically, the media likes to latch onto any hint of potential snow and blow it out of proportion until all their warnings are rendered entirely meaningless.  This time, the storm lived up to the hype!  We are buried under 2-3 feet of snow.  Hub did most of the shoveling, piling the snow up in mountains along the sidewalk and filling our little chainlink front yard to capacity.

School was cancelled for two days.  As much as I hate when school is cancelled, I can't help but enjoy a snow day.  The question of "what on earth do I do with the kids today?" is neatly answered: bundle them up and push them out the door.

Lucia is a little too young to be shoved out into a blizzard, but Elsie is just right for it.  Elsie spent nearly the entire snow emergency out of doors, running around with the neighborhood kids.  They went sledding down the drifts, they dug forts out of the towering banks.  Lucia tolerated a half an hour in the snow, then, upon discovering that she wasn't going to be able to eat it all, spent the rest of her weekend hidden away under my baby-coat, or wandering around inside learning how to walk.  She barely took off her frog-hat.
