Ten Minute Blog

Lately, it has been hard to find the half-hour or hour it takes to sit down and write a careful and complete blog post.  I tend to get interrupted.  The evidence is piling up in my draft list, as an eclectic heap of fragmented thoughts.  A few paragraphs reflecting on coming out. A more academic essay compiling some of the Judeo Christian philosophies that have brought me comfort.  A piece on the funeral of a family friend.  A few words on last week's trip to Washington, DC.

What a mess!

So today, a ten-minute blog.  Sit down and bang out whatever comes in ten minutes, then go catch my bus.  Five to go.

Bullets might be best here.

  • DC was incredible.  Just what I needed.  I met new friends and old, and attended a big NARAL (national abortion & reproductive rights action league) dinner.  I sat with other women like me, women who have had to give up babies for medical reasons, and our friends.  I was treated extremely well.  I even talked to the brand new president of the organization.  She's lovely.  She cried.  This may not seem like much, but there were almost 1000 people there, so it's a pretty big deal.
  • One night away, and I returned to an Elsie who seems to have taken yet another developmental leap.  Children never cease to amaze me.
  • She is amassing an army of imaginary friends and even pets, inventing the best assortment of real, almost-real, and totally off-the-charts names for all of them
    • Biblet and Cattacuda (rhymes with barracuda) are her imaginary cats.
    • Hazel, Quinerda, Eerda, and Karela are the main possee of imaginary friends.  Qinerda is a troublemaker.
    • Her teddy bear is nammed Gynocerous.  (Sounds like gigantic-noncancerous)
  • We got totally snowed in by the blizzard and it was awesome.
Time's up!

  1. Biblet is the best cat name I have ever heard. I may be stealing it.
